Race against Racism
Do pledge your support here along with the FIA's Racing against Racism campaign. http://www.everyrace.net/
Basically, allow me to quote my idol Felipe Massa from http://www.formula1.com/news/headlines/2008/4/7671.html:“The whole Formula One community should get behind this campaign. Formula One is a global sport and we should use it to promote equality wherever we can.”
Felipe Massa, Ferrari
Ok I guess I may be a little late in posting this (I did pledge my support to this campaign since it started on 24th April, so technically I'm not late), but better late than never!
Being an F1 fan, I see myself as part of the Formula One community too. In my opinion, we don't need a campaign before we can start racing against racism! This can be applied in our lives as well. Since I started school, I've been working with people from all races. We are here to enjoy life and learn to the best of our ability and prejudice and racism will never be a factor in that. In the Thailand Jamboree I went on, I had the unique once in a lifetime opportunity to meet up with scouts from other nations and learn about peoples' cultures. I throughly enjoyed myself then, and I feel that Jamborees are sort of "mini racing against racism" campaigns as well! (So you could say I've been part of my own racing against racism since 2005!)
There may be people who do not support this campaign, which is sad because we are all human afterall. Nothing differentiates us. We may speak different tongues and believe in different things but our goals are mainly the same - Peace on Earth and existing together in harmony!
Yep so thats about it. Though racism in itself is a vague issue, I have and will support my anti racism stance. Kudos to the FIA for their Racing Against Racism campaign!
