If you are mentally able to manage major setbacks in life and able to take a step forward, you will get stronger.

A old chinese saying went "Failure is the mother of success"

Basically I disagree, for the only failure is when you have totally given up. Perhaps "Setbacks are the mother of success" will be more accurate.
